IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Here are some places in Zone 8 you can enjoy during SHOUT! … and anytime you’re Uptown.

  • The Wind Sculpture by Jack Pentes

This legendary work of Uptown public art was relocated to the Zone 8 area a few years ago. This year, it was refurbished by the Arts & Science Council who commissioned six local artists to create new spinning discs on the sculpture. These discs represent the communities in each City of Charlotte district.

  • Historic Elmwood-Pinewood Cemetery

Visitors are invited to respectfully stroll one of Charlotte’s oldest cemeteries, just a few blocks away from Gateway village. Along with Settlers and Pinewood cemeteries, Elmwood is a significant location in Charlotte history.

  • Crave Dessert Bar
A local restaurant, bar and hookah lounge located a few blocks from Johnson & Wales is this perfect location for drinks, date-night or a nice dinner with friends.
