ZONE 5

Click here for a full map of SHOUT!

Both art and ideas await you in Zone 5 on South Tryon St. In addition to Zone 1, this is a perfect place to start (or end) your visit to SHOUT!

Playful art installations like Easter Eggs on Parade in The Green and international sensation Sonic Runway on Levine Avenue of the Arts invite you to be part of the art. And, when the sun goes down, a magical disco pirate ship with dancing jellyfish and live DJs (no kidding) awaits you in Zone 5.

Zone 5 is location for many of the Charlotte Ideas Festival’s “must attend” events at SHOUT!, including:

CAN’T MISS ACTIVITIES

Zone 5 is home to many opportunities for local art and installations during Charlotte SHOUT! There are so many, we’re pretty sure you’ll start making plans for a return trip as soon as you arrive.

Pretty much everywhere you go in Zone 5 presents you with an opp for a picture perfect selfie or shot with family and friends.

You simply cannot miss this installation on the Levine Avenue of the Arts between the Mint and the Bechtler art museums. Created by artists Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant and produced by CREOS, this immersive light-art installation converts sound into patterns of light that shoot down a 350 ft corridor of 20 LED lined arches as you walk through it. SEE IT AT NIGHT!

During SHOUT!, join various local and national DJs on The Pirate Ship, designed by Ali Loncar, on the Levine Avenue of the Arts. (And, yes … there are lots of lots of artistic jellyfish to be found here.)

A Charlotte SHOUT! favorite returns for a remarkable third year! The Easter Bunny has made another special delivery of 13 giant eggs at The Green. Each egg was decorated by a different Charlotte-based artist using various creative techniques. Kids of all ages are invited to search for them.

Live performers – dancers, DJs, aerial artists, skaters and more – are setting up camp in The Green during SHOUT! Some of it is interactive. Some are just to watch. All of it is entertaining.

Work with Upcycle Arts creatives to make whatever you want out of different materials and then take it home on The Green! Join the creative team from April 9-15.

Zone 5 offers tempting options for all palates and price points. More await just a short walk away on Church St. and Brooklyn Village Ave.

Zone 5 is very easy to get in and out of, whether you’re taking your car or light rail.

  • There are several options for parking, but we suggest The Green underground Parking deck. Other options include 400 S Tryon, 330 S Tryon and Lot 2. For more parking information, click here.

  • And, if you choose to take the light rail, you can take the light rail into Uptown from Pineville or University City. And, you can use it to visit other parts of SHOUT! LYNX schedule here.
