Zone 3 Must Sees
ZONE 3 - THE HUB
Click here for a full map of SHOUT!
Charlotte SHOUT! always brings art, music, ideas, and food to the streets. This year, in Zone 3, the magic is OVER the streets, too. We’re taking SHOUT! into Charlotte’s Overstreet Mall, a retail corridor of shops, restaurants and more weaving its way through the interior of Charlotte skyscrapers.
It’s here, in the air-conditioned halls inside the 200 S. College St. building, you’ll find The Hub, a collection of pop-up shops featuring work from the entire cross-section of local creativity. Rain or shine, The Hub will help you fall deeper in love with our incredible visual arts community and a peek at what’s “now” in Charlotte’s underground fashion scene.
CAN’T MISS ACTIVITIES
No visit to The Hub is complete without experiencing these pop-up shops and installations:
Fashion is the newest creative pillar at SHOUT! … and The HUB is its home. When you visit, make sure to stroll Fashion Row, a collection of original work from 15 of Charlotte’s hottest underground designers. And, each Saturday of the festival, you can sign up for SHOUT! Chic workshop sessions –workshops, demos, and talks led by some of Charlotte’s hottest design talent.
A diverse collection of artistic expressions, celebrating the symbiotic relationship between adversity and growth curated by Shefalee Patel of Cultural Connections.
Curated by artist @Stencilspray, the TAC Gallery puts the focus on less-established local artists with an eye toward modern, pop, and non-traditional art forms.
Don’t just look at art … MAKE ART! Organized by Tuxedokat, the Uptown Imaginarium is a place for artists of all ages (especially kids) to try the art of puddle painting and create their own masterpiece. Plus, there’s a “Date Night” edition for a crafty night out. These workshops are ticketed.
The permanent Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery makes its home in the VAPA Center in Zone 7, but, under the direction of founder JoAnne Rogers, this pop-up offers a curated selection of art exhibits and hands-on workshops. Once you’ve visited here, head up to VAPA and see more!
