Colby Dobbs is a singer/songwriter hailing from the Charlotte area. Growing up, Colby listened to a wide variety of artists from an older era of music. Being inspired by the sounds of Motown, yacht rock, and fusion, Colby graduated high school and taught himself how to play piano by learning songs by his favorite artists. After a few years of working odd jobs to make ends meet as a supplement to being a part-time performer, he finally made the jump into being a career musician where he’s worked ever since as a freelancer, and also with his original projects - Colby Dobbs Band (since 2009), as well “Lawn Friends,” formed with fellow Charlotte musician Mike Ramsey at the beginning of the pandemic. 

Colby is married to his wonderful wife Chelsea, and when he isn’t playing music, he spends his time as an avid Charlotte Hornets/Carolina Panthers fan, as well as a poker enthusiast.

Giant Easter Egg preview! @superdaftbros started this project by 3D Scanning their giant fiberglass egg, then designed an intricate hexagonal shell structure to surround it. 78 unique hexagons were designed to reflect some of the @superdaftbros' favorite parts of Charlotte. Each one was 3D printed, spray painted silver, and fitted with dozens of colorful LEDs. The effect is a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of color. The Charlotte StrEATs Neighborhood Cook-off, curated by Plaid Penguin, will return this year as part of Charlotte SHOUT! Eight local chefs will represent their hood and go head-to-head in a cook-off to win the title of the StrEATs Neighborhood Champion The final four will go on to cook their dishes live at the Charlotte StrEATs Festival on Sunday, April 16th. From there, a panel of judges will name two chefs who will go on to the finale which will be emceed by world-renowned chef Alex Guarnaschelli MEET THE COMPETITORS: 1.
