The creators of SHAOLIN JAZZ are proud to bringing their critically acclaimed CAN I KICK IT? movie experience to the Queen City for the first time. At each event, cult classic and contemporary martial arts/action films are screened and scored live (scene-by-scene) with a blend of Hip Hop, Soul, Funk and more mixed by Charlotte native DJ 2-Tone Jones. The result is a live, remixed soundtrack to the movies using music to complement the dialogue and story line while also incorporating special DJ techniques to accentuate elements in certain scenes.
On Saturday, April 9th they will present an action-packed screening of one of the greatest martial arts movies ever made, Enter the Dragon starring the one and only Bruce Lee. Lee plays a martial-arts expert determined to help capture the narcotics dealer whose gang was responsible for the death of his sister. He enters a Kung Fu competition in an attempt to fight his way to the dealer's headquarters with the help of some friends. (The film is rated-R and may contain content not suitable for young audiences)
Hometown favorite the Mighty DJ DR will kick things off at 9pm with a special DJ set and the film will begin by 10pm.
