Paul Nitsch

Paul Nitsch is the Carolyn G. McMahon Professor of Music at Queens University of Charlotte, NC. He also serves as Chairman of the Division of Fine Arts, and Chairman of the Music Department. Dr. Nitsch earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. His teachers were Walter Hautzig and Leon Fleisher. Thereafter, he was awarded two consecutive Fulbright Scholarships for study at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He earned his Doctorate from the Cleveland Institute of Music. From1981 to 1992, Nitsch was Pianist for the Garth Newel Trio, in residence at the Garth Newel Music Center in Hot Springs, Virginia, and, from 1992 to 2001, the Artistic Director for the Fontana Concert Society in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He also serves as Artistic Director for the Friends of Music at Queens University.
