Zone 2 To Dos
ZONE 2
Click here for a full map of SHOUT!
Exploration is the name of the game in Zone 2. Located next to The Square - the intersection of Trade and Tryon Streets - this area of SHOUT! is like a public art scavenger hunt.
Some installations are in plain sight (like Il Grande Disco and the Statues on the Square). Others, like Luminous Lane or the One South Alleyway, are waiting just around the corner for you to discover them.
CAN’T MISS ACTIVITIES
There’s so much to experience in Zone 2! Make sure that phone is charged up (you’re going to want to take photos) and prepare to experience some of the best SHOUT! Has to offer here.
In 2023, more than 40 local artists transformed a nondescript alleyway between 4th and 3rd streets into Luminous Lane with murals and more. In the process, a neglected and forgotten part of Uptown became one of its most visited locations. This year, we’ve added a soundscape by local musician Emily Sage. And dozens of artists are taking the party across the street, adding more stunning art to a blank façade facing 4th Street. You DO NOT want to miss this.
After visiting Luminous Lane, you’ll want to take a piece home with you. On the first two SHOUT! Saturdays, March 30 and April 6, you can! Many of the artists with work in the lane will participate in a pop-up art market in the alley starting at noon.
Nestled in the alley next to Tupelo Honey on the 100 block of S. Tryon Street, we’ve built an outdoor market filled with a cultivated collection of local artisans. Vendors are open noon to 6PM Mon-Thu and 11am to 8pm on the weekends.
Speaking of shopping … Zone 2 is the recommended entry point for The Hub, an indoor marketplace of pop-up local art shops and the works of 15 local fashion designers set up in the corridors of Charlotte’s Overstreet Mall. We suggest entering at 101 S. Tryon Street to hit The Hub. Find walking directions here. [NEEDS TO BE LINKED TO DIRECTIONS WE WROTE.]
