Charlotte's historic Brooklyn neighborhood is a reference point to acknowledge the impact of erased and forgotten African-American communities. From the late 1800s to the early 1960s, Brooklyn was a city within a city that provided opportunities and sanctuary in a segregated South.

The multigenerational group of artists in Renaissance of Brooklyn through their work portray their lived experiences and perspectives as African-Americans living in Charlotte and the region. They're reclaiming space in North Carolina's history and vision for its future.

The @eatblkcharlotte food and cultural festival returns next Saturday, June 10 at SHOUT! Venue: Victoria Yards🎉 DETAILS: About 15 Black-owned food trucks will participate in the festival, which will have activities for kids and a live DJ. - From June 2-10, 25 local Black-owned restaurants, like @cuzzoscuisine, @romeosveganburgers, @weatheredsoulscIt and @urbansweetsco, to name a few, will offer weeklong deals leading up to the festival. • DETAILS: The festival will take place at @victoriayardscit and @themarketat7thst in @uptown.clt from 2-7pm. 🎟️TICKETS: General admission is $10. What an amazing video made by @charlotte_thrives! 42 mural artists have brought light to dark places. What once was a dark alley in Charlotte, NC has now become a beautiful mural landscape. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! @discoveryplacescience opened their newest exhibition this week and it does NOT disappoint! 🦹‍♀️ This exhibition is perfect for the whole family. 🎉 Showcasing genuine Academy Award-winning movie costumes, lifelike photo opportunities, and original comic art that allows you to observe every detail, including the white out marks.🦸‍♂️ FUN FACT: When you look closely you’ll see the Black Panther costume has Wakanda’s language stitched into the seams.🕵️🕵️‍♀️ The exhibit is open now until September 4th.
